My name’s Matt Rea. I’m a Fractional CMO, and the owner of Antihero Marketing.

I’ve been sticking my face in the marketing fan since my college days. It started with field marketing for a company called Seamless (eventually acquired by GrubHub).

I continued to hone my marketing skillset through various projects and internships focused on social media & content strategy during my college and professional football career, then hung up the cleats and decided to go all in on marketing.

It was then that I truly honed my current skillet; leading the charge on marketing strategy and building brands to go from growth-stage to mid-market (>$10mm revenue).

So far I’ve been involved with the marketing efforts at dozens of different companies; from leading teams, to providing support on campaigns, or just learning the ins and outs of new industries. I’ve founded and built B2C brands from scratch, scaled companies from startup to mid-market, and collaborated on nationwide marketing campaigns to reach millions.

My expertise in marketing is broad, but my specialty is taking a young brand and giving it an identity that comes to life across all facets of marketing, sales, and customer experience to drive profitable growth.

The approach I take to marketing and brand starts with asking the right questions. From there, I can develop a deep understanding of a niche buyer, effectively communicate a problem-solving narrative that resonates with them, and motivate action through the most impactful channels.

That’s is my philosophy on marketing - if you ask the right questions, the strategy becomes clear.

The Name:

The Antihero is the protagonist that lacks your ‘traditional’ heroic qualities.

That doesn’t mean we’re non-conformist or unethical.

It means taking an approach to brand and marketing that’s not self-righteous or claiming to have the answers.

It’s being true to who we are: honest and real, resourceful and resilient, unconventional and no-nonsense.

And we take that same approach to developing brand and marketing strategies for our clients because we know that’s the fastest way to create loyal customers who purchase over and over again.
